Maha7002/12/02 at 13:17:25#1I have added some more pictures. My Earthlink account expires soon so I want to share some of these nice pictures. I'm glad to hear that Celestial Maiden likes the Padmakumara pic. I like that one too. It is a very handsome picture of Padmakumara and actually one of the better ones I've seen.

Since yesterday was Chinese New Year I should have put this one up sooner, but here it is anyway. Pray to the local Earth God (aka Planet God?) and burn some paper money for him to have a happy New Year.

This pic is one of the Golden Mother of the Jade Pond. Grand Master Lu has called on her often to answer questions.

celestialmaiden02/12/02 at 23:12:06#2Re: Buddha PicturesI love the statue of Grandmaster. He is much more plump in the face than the one at Pai Yuin temple.

Thanks for the pictures. PLS looks quite different now. I used to go there a lot.
Earth God is different from the Yearly Planet God.
YOu can not find the statue of Yearly Planet God, it is only a sheet of paper. Well, what I do is to encourage people to register for yearly blessing!

Maha7002/13/02 at 15:34:52#4Re: Buddha PicturesThanks for your reply Alice.
I have added a couple more pictures since you replied.
I remember when you used to come to the PLS and I thought you might be interested in the pic with Master Samantha.
PLS really has changed since you were here. Things are a bit more sophisticated and there's a lot more help. Also, many ceremonies are held at the Purple Lotus University (in Union City) which is a very different environment.
The reason I put up the picture of the Local Earth God was because I went to PLS yesterday. One of the monks, Lian Un told me to chant the mantra of the Local Earth God (Namo samman do moh to nam om dolo dolo dei wei so ha) and then burn some paper money for him.

Happy New Year to you!
Thanks for the photos, they're great.
Pardon, but I noticed the photo you posted and said it is Yellow Jambhala. Is it not Red Jambhala in the photo?
Thanks,
Lu

arica02/13/02 at 21:04:46#7Re: Buddha PicturesMaha.......i agree with Lu and Mimosa, that is obviously the Elephant Deity ( Red Jambala God) . I like your photo too ;) You are a very prosperous looking man.
celestialmaiden02/19/02 at 14:59:37#8Re: Buddha PicturesThose pictures were very high quality. What kind of camera do you use? If it's not too expensive I would like to buy one. A camera that takes such clear pictures is hard to find.
Maha7002/22/02 at 11:48:43#9Re: Buddha PicturesHello Celestial Maiden,
The camera I am using is the Olympus D-100. I bought it (refurbished) on Ebay for $130. I really like it. It is only a 1 megapixel camera so landscape shots are not very detailed, but indoor and closeup shots look nice.
If you decide to buy this digital camera you must also buy some nice Nimh rechargeable batteries as AA's won't work well. Also, you will want to get a larger memory card.

I have put up some more pictures:

Yesterday (3/2/02) at 8:00 p.m. Master Samantha hosted a "Red Jambhala" water offering at the Purple Lotus University. The entire place was adorned in Red. I was pretty impressed which is not that easy to do because I've been to many ceremonies at the PLS and I've seen them dress that place up pretty good. The red paper covering the arches of the walls were particularly impressive. Check it out!

Thanks for the camera model. That is a very reasonable price and it's digital too! I hope that that camera is still on the market. As well, Your website is beautiful! I love all the pictures because they are so colorful. And the explanations you put below the pictures are so helpful. Thank you!!
