A few years ago I had a spiritual response (details were posted on TBSN) that allowed me to call upon Guru as long as my heart was one with his. Thus in times of need, I will ask for guidance and he will give me words of advice. On Chinese New Year I asked someone I highly respected for advice on doing the Personal Deity Practice. I will not disclose his identity. I was very hurt. He laughed in my face in disbelief that I should be doing this practice. Even though a Master had confirmed my permission to do this practice he was in disbelief. I was very very upset and sad. He said that he will not believe me unless I write a letter to GM confirming this. At first I was going to write this letter but I believe it is pointless because in my heart I know the truth. If I already know the truth then there is no need to write the letter for the intention of proving someone wrong. It will only embarass this person. As well sometimes people already have their mind made up regardless of how you try to change their opinion. My writing is not to say bad things about this person. Of course I am not mad at him. But that night I was crying really bad. I felt so hurt because I was telling the truth from my heart and someone who i respected did not believe me. I remember in one of GM's stories when he said that people do not accept what he has to say because he tells the truth and people do not want to hear the truth. That night I lay in bed crying to Guru. He gave me the following poem:
Do not take heed of what others say,
Stay strong in your cultivation,
The Truth will be revealed one day.
I immediately calmed down. Two days later I saw that person. He was not so stubborn anymore. He even gave me advice on how to start the practice!! How wonderful the Buddha Dharma is!!! My intent of writing this is to share with other dharma brothers and sisters this poem so that if they come across people of disbelief that they too will 'stay strong in their cultivation' and not let these things bother them!!!
