tbsnkid203/13/02 at 06:57:39#1I have a couple of questions:
1. What is exactly a Sarrira? Is it a crystal, element, etc? Have anyone determine its chemical makeup? Or looked under the microscope to see what it is? Does it grow, like a tree? Therefore, does it eventually die also? Or does it just last forever like diamonds? Or in this case a living diamond? Does it GLOW, in the dark? Is it always "good" and not "bad"?
2. For the Thousand Round mantra procedure, can it be applied to ANY mantra? Can one apply it to a sutra? The High King Sutra is Great but it is pretty long, can one use the Thousand-Round Mantra method to "speed" it up? Or is that sacrilegious? Would the Buddhas be offended, even if it is done properly and sincerely?
Thank you.

Hi Sarria are found in spiritual cultivators that have achieved a high level of cultivation, it may also be found in people that have been reborn in the western paradise. there is a story on the tbsn website about the prisoners that had sarria after they cultivated the true buddha dharma after a short time. These sairria are hard & they are indestructable. it is a relic that shows ones birth into the pure realms of exsitence so they are not considered bad.
As for the mantra that helps to transform the mantra into a thousand times, doesnt mean it is to help us chant less it is to actually help us accomplish more mantra. one has to know one has to fullfil the required amount of mantra that one has to chant. just that this practice can enable one to double that amount.
& this mantra as far as i have heard not normally used to finish the reciatation of the high kling sutra, the high king sutra is one of the shortest sutras out there. there are alot of sutras that are much longer, but the whole meaning of chanting sutra is to penertrate the meaning of it & to realize what is the teaching inside the sutra. so if one can chant 1.000 times of this sutra & deeply penetrate the meaning of it one will come to understand the way to cultivate oneself this lifetime.
it is better not to rush the homework set by GM but to try to realize the inner meaning so one would truly understand the gift GM has given us. (GM= Grandmaster)
I hope this offers some explanation. ;) ;)

tbsnkid203/13/02 at 08:27:55#3Re: Sarriras, Thousand Round Mantra Hi, thanks for the prompt response.
I understand you about the Thousand Round Mantra. I tend to agree.
About the Sarriras though, what you said still does not explain what it is exactly. I know they are the remains from Highly cultivated disciples, but hasn't anyone one looked into it? Out of sheer curiosity? Are they crystals? In any case, are sarriras consider alive or dead?
Thank you.
lotuschild03/13/02 at 17:21:04#4Re: Sarriras, Thousand Round Mantra HI Tbsnkid2
as grandmaster explained they are the crystalization of ones body & one chi, secondly there are certain sutras one can chant which will actually make the sarria multiply. so one can say they are alive. it is the same as if one has some of GM"s hair
as long as one sincerly does ones cultvation or chant the heart mantra of gm the hair will multiply. but i will find more info on what GM said about the sarria
take care for now.
tbsnkid203/13/02 at 19:05:51#5Re: Sarriras, Thousand Round Mantra That's the part that fascinates me!!! The fact that they multiply, with sutra chanting. They are alive. So they are like plants except they don't need water or light. Crystals that grow with sincerity of the owner!!! As someone interested in science, I think Sarriras deserve some looking into.
Buddhafly04/26/02 at 09:47:37#6Re: Sarriras, Thousand Round Mantra For the Thousand Round mantra procedure, can it be applied to ANY mantra?
YES
Can one apply it to a sutra?
NO
The High King Sutra is Great but it is pretty long, can one use the Thousand-Round Mantra method to "speed" it up? Or is that sacrilegious?
NO
Would the Buddhas be offended, even if it is done properly and sincerely?
NO
ALSO THIS EMPOWERMENT CAN BE GIVEN REMOTELY.
^tAn^TyWuI^-^05/04/02 at 07:40:52#7Re: Sarriras, Thousand Round Mantra Sariras: they can be formed in two ways:
1. When you practice tummo fire(kundalini) meditation and you exercise your tummo fire to evaporate your bindu and transport them by your prana around your channels to all parts of the body. When the evaporated bindu condenses, it forms Sariras.
2. When you practise intense meditation that you reach either dhyana or samadhi, through the aide of vinaya and prajna wisdom, your inner light crystalises and condenses to form sariras.
Why do they grow? This is my theory:
Because sariras are formed under intense meditation, they are actually connected to the universal consciousness. By actively meditating and chanting, we connect ourselves to the Higher consciousness and thus supple the sarira with more concentrated power of meditation, meaning that we cause the growth. Of course this is also done with the empowerment of Guru and all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and Vajrakilas.
An interesting fact is that the colour of the sarira discrened by the onlooker depends on the negative karma of the person. People with lighter negative karma would have lighter colours closer to white or very bright, intense colours. Heavier karmas would cause the sarira to profess darker colors.
As to the Thousand Turn Mantra:
It is best if one can finish the basic set of mantra recitation first, i.e. 100000 times or more. This will improve the effaciacy of the mantra power.
As to the High King Sutra: no, the Thousand Turn Mantra does not affect nor increase the number of times for sutras. It only affects mantras.
Another interesting thing about the High King Sutra is that it aids in the cultivation of Pure Light. You can refer to Guru's books Volume 120.
