Buddhafly04/17/02 at 18:32:56#1In a dream, my husband Bert found himself in a place of giant lotus flowers. He could see the stars in the distance. The dream was quite lucid.
He looked into one of the lotus flowers and seen that there was a pearl in it. He some how entered the pearl and found myself in a place of white light and pearls were floating everywhere.
He somehow knew he was energy and the pearls could pass right through him as they did everything was in very slow motion.
He awoke very peaceful.

Lyciss04/17/02 at 21:23:45#4Re: Pearls my feelings are, the monk, isnt someone seperate from Bert, the monk is Bert... perhaps Bert's Buddha nature so awakened that it teaches him in dreams hoping that the "awakened" Bert will awaken when awake...

" LOL " Dance, you never failed to make me laugh... :D
Lyciss, i kinda of starting to think that way too, that the
monk is Bert in one of his former lifetime.
Brenda, Pearl represents the clear, pure Buddha Nature
in one's heart. There was a dharma sister who saw a huge
Pearl like Bert during her meditation camp ( she related
the encounter immediately to us on the spot after the
session is over ). She was very amazed and was wondering
why was there such a huge shinning Pearl ?
Then she entered the Pearl and she was surrounded by
bright clear light. She sat in the meditation position
and continued to meditate inside the Pearl.
When she told the disciples in the meditation camp about
her state in her meditation, the Reverend Lian Ren ( from
Hong Kong ) congraluated her......saying that she has
just seen her Buddha Nature and that she should not feel
apart from the Pearl.
The Pearl is her and she is the Pearl.
It left an impression in me what to look out for next time
if i should see this myself in my meditation. ;)

Lyciss.
If you go back to the story of "Mudras!" Grand Master Lu mentioned in his letter to me that "Bert would remember".
He didn't say remember what though.
After that last dream he said that he felt he knew the monk for a very long time, like a brother. Which I found very interesting. I asked him if he had an intuition of who the monk was and he said he didn't know but would attempt to remember to ask him next time he meets him.
It was interesting when I asked him a Dharma question today and he started giving me the reflection analogy. I asked him right away if he had a dream, as I had not heard this one before. Sure enough he had one only hours before.
He takes it all very lightly. Where as if it was me, I would likely be extremely excited to have dreams like that.

You are correct. I received a telephone call from Bert this morning, he is out of the city working. He brought with him a big book on Zen and a book from another school with the Heart Sutra with him. He said he started practicing meditation and found his thoughts were going so very fast and it was quite difficult for him.
I asked Master Lian Zhi who the monk in Bert's dream is, and she said it is his teacher from a past life.
