Hi Everyone...
im overwelmed at the moment but ill try to explain why... one thing i havent mentioned yet to everyone here is that im really into electronic or techno music... many many years ago i made a song using Amitabhas heart mantra perhaps thats why i have this present "gift" as i call it... anyways at one moment i thought that i couldnt share this song or play it in a club or rave since it might "promote" the use of alcohol or drug use that happens in most clubs or raves... i really felt disheartened and gave up the idea of adding buddhism into the music i create...
A few days back i was talking to a friend of mine who also writes lots of music and i told him i felt i have two parts of my life and for some reason havent been able to merge them together yet... one is the music side and the other is the Buddhist side... he couldnt really help me out or fully understand where i was comming from since he doesnt really care if hes promoting drug use or not...
Well after all this tonight i was looking up and doing research to find that Dharma Protector that was asked about in another thread... well i gave up and have decided to just post some information about Scanda instead... so i was looking up more info on Scanda to write in and i came across this page in the process...

http://www.yellowdragon-music.co.uk/pages/listen.htm

im overly inspired and now see clearly my error in thinking... its not promotion of negative actions its a fortunate blessing to share Grand Masters and the Buddhas Dharma in techno... those who will come to hear my music will also have a chance to meet the Buddhas at the same time... im amazed and now i have the bridge!

ok this post might be a bit fumbly but i havent had time to sort out my happiness to write... and i dont know if anyone out there likes techno but i thought id atleast list the page...
i think you can still enjoy the music even if you dont care for it since they have mantras in them!

Lyciss,
When I read the first paragraph of your post, the first thing that came to mind was that yellow dragons record. I thought you were the creator behind it. I obtained a copy of it a few years ago. They were selling it at a local temple. Perhaps you could ask around for a CD or burn one from the Mp3's on the website (with permission I guess). I admit the style of music is quite different. I am not accustomed to it and prefer the traditional and classical chanting but I'm glad you were able to receive such a wonderful "gift from the Buddha's." Perhaps in the future you could share with us your own creations!

Cele,
you have some insite ability then, very interesting that you would think that i would create something like that because i totally would... lol so far my favorite song is titled, "Ommanibeimehom" it makes me happy...
i really like techno and ive been into it for quite a long time so im use to it, i even sleep to it sometimes even tho its very up beat... lol since its so up beat its happy and people always want to have fun when they listen to it and thats what we need more of... most modern music that comes out is depressing but techno usually isnt...
im thinking about buying his cd from the site... and since im so inspired im going to dig out my equipment and see what i can come up with... ill keep you in mind after i do... 8)

Yes I would definitely like to hear your creations when you're done! What will be your DJ name? Red dragon, blue dragon? haha...I admit at first I did not like techno/trance music. I thought it was way too repetitive but the more I listened to it I gradually liked it. It is very soothing and relaxing especially at night time...but you are right, that techno/trance music is surrounded with lots of drugs and stuff at raves. I don't see any harm listening to it in a non-rave environment though! I'd buy it for my car, but the CD's are so expensive. Like $30 a CD. Do you know of any good ones I can buy?

I like different music for different moods. Techno/trance for the weekend at night. Especially for driving since my whole life is spent in my car practically! That type of music induces me to drive faster, makes me feel like race car driver. But I have a slow car, so I don't really drive fast but catch up!
In the morning, I love classical music like bach etc. It makes me feel refreshed and calm while I drive. Prepares me for school in the mornings. Then in the afternoon, I like alternative or soft pop...like Mariah Carey etc. Then on weeknights I like Jazz. I love it, makes me feel like I'm in a big city like NY or something.

Then when I'm home I cannot help but hear "Namo Amitafo" 24 hours a day. My mom has 2 types of music playing 24/7 throughout the house. Then intermittently she'll listen to sutra chanting on top of that. She plays it for my hamster, says that if he listens to it long enough he might start chanting it and ascend to heaven.
Then in her car, she listens to "da bei zhou" all the time, nothing else. Too much of it, I need variety!

Cele,
definately sounds like your getting your variety...lol and your right techno does tend to make you want to drive fast... hmm $30 a cd yea that is quite a bit... but i also dont usually buy cds, instead i download the mp3s of the songs that i like and burn them to cd... since artists usually tend to have similar songs this way i can have songs from many different artists... sometimes ill buy albums tho, like from Daft Punk... ill see if theres something i can do for you about finding them cheaper... 8)
so you dont like your moms tapes of the chanting? i bet your hampster loves it... lol maybe i could modernise the chanting with techno... once you hear it enough it youll never forget it... 8)

hmm...what sites do you go to? maybe I can download them on my computer and listen to them, and then seek out the CD since I do not have a burner or mp3 player.

haha...my Hammy hamster....yes I hope he definitely learns to chant and stop playing around. He acts like a human, so smart. Maybe when my hamster starts hearing the modernized music, he will start dancing! haha.

Cele,
i dont know about other music sites but i do know about a site that does lots of techno... you dont need an mp3 player just real audio or widows media player... they have a huge selection of tracks and often show live video and music feeds of many different dj and other electronic artists... its a very nicely put together site, make sure you have flash enabled on ur internet browser and sound hooked up so you can get the full effect of their site...

I think I am getting too old!

I chucked all my old cd's out this year into a new Zen like uncluter.  I have one Classical music cd now.

For MP3's I have only two: Sarah McLachlan and Enya from a free download, the rest are Buddhist chanting.  I do not even listen to the radio anymore.

I must be pretty boring huh.

Lyciss-bro

Have you created something of your own?
Can you post it here?
I'm into the trance side - I guess with and without music.
I think Klaus Schulze does OK for a guy who worships at the alter of tobacco.  He is old too, like me.

Who is Klaus Schulz?
lian hua dance05/12/02 at 00:22:24#12Re: The Buddhas just gave me a gift!

A German musician who has been with trance electronics since a long time ago.
Ahead of his time then, perhaps behind the times now, but my hero anyway.
