after that, i was back to normal. wonder whether i should be getting this reaction.

nausea at a karma cleansing session id say this is common... sometimes when when im practicing the 4 preliminaries and im reciting Vajrasattvas 100 syllable mantra my sinuses will be completely clear to start with but when im half way through they tend to start getting clogged and after im finished i usually have a "flem ball" to spit out...
the nausea could be a slight side effect to something that happens quicker than you can experience it... perhaps you were chopped up and the negative karma removed and then you were reassembled and this reforming gave you nausea...

What does that mean? Is that a cleansing of the negative karma as well or caused by surrounding spirits?

There are many things happening at ceremonies that we arnt aware of... it takes the devine eye to be able to witness what is happening... i dont want to scare you with ideas so i wont list possiblities and i would also hate to say something that could happen but infact doesnt happen... but i do want to mention, if you are practicing the Dharma and strive to have purity of thought, you are more than likely surrounded by many Dharma Protectors because they recieve merits by keeping you safe so you can practice... however there are times when a karmic dept requires paying so they may stand aside by orders from heaven... hopefully none of you will have to suffer drastic experiences like those... and im sure the Dharma Protectors wish to help and it is possible for them to do something if you sincerly try to purify your past misdeeds and work towards not doing them again... sometimes you can be pardoned by your own karma if you help others see their misdeeds and help them to change their ways... heaven is always moved by such compassion... its how the buddhas became buddhas...

I have felt Nausia once when karma was being cleansed.
I have felt "on a high" after repentance ceremonies.
I remember after I took refuge I used to watch my fellow Dharma brothers/sisters "brush themselves off" after a certain part of our practice. It took me a few years to get that "Yicky" feeling of karma coming out.
