anyone knows what does it take to be a reverend-teacher (zhu-jiao)? Heard they undertake some zhu-jiao exams? what must one know to prepare for the exams?

months at padmakumara made me realise that i enjoy helping others with advice ..

if being a zhu-jiao means i could help more people, i would gladly take it up, but i realise that you must have certain qualifications, issit? one of which is to have read all of Grandmaster's works?

Jessie

To be the "instructor assistant", you have to pass several exams in the subject of general buddhism, cultivation, liturgy...

however, if your motivation is to help others,  you dont need the instructor assistant title. There are so much you can do to help others!! do some volunteer work, for example join padma and be our translator :-)

:D

you are right...Dun think my translation skills are good (and i am very slow, so I am better at manual repetitive tasks instead). You can send one or two articles to try me out first, if you dun mind?

Good! You see, I see the Bodhisattva heart.  If you want to help others, the first thing is not to have fear. Willing to try and not retreat back!

Let's take one translation. Give a try and find your potential, how is that?

http://www.wtbn.org/377/p377-13-04.shtm

try this article. I want you to do it differently.

Read it, summarize it, and write it in English. This is not GM's article, but good spiritual response. So, as long as the meaning is right, it is fine.

get the idea?

Let me get you started, you will start your translation like

"Today, I would like to talk about my personal experience with
Grand Master's blessing. A few years ago, I was ill. Doctor checked on me several times, but could not figure out the problem..."

get the idea? no need for word to word translation!

It is actually a very powerful spiritual response, especially when GM is not physically in Seattle. People want to know how to get his help!!

your translation will help many!!

good luck. When you are done, send email to mimosa@bestpals.org

dont worry about grammar. Dance will fix it :-)

Hi Jessie,

  I admire your noble intentions.:))

Anyway, just to share something with you ( heard it somewhere) : someone asks , what does it takes to become a zhu jiao ( lecturer assistant) ,  reply: Eat more zhu jiao!!!! ( pig's leg in Mandarin)
Then someone asks : what does it take to become a Shang si ? ( A Master) the anwser: Eat more shou si !( sushi in Mandarin)

I think this is the extreme version of we become what we eat!!!:)))
Jessie, I am not sharing this to make fun of you.
Just to share this for a few laughs.Let's take it in the spirit of the Laughing Buddha.

Regards
Xin Kai
