Some of you have already read the recent article GM wrote about translation copyright
http://www.wtbn.org/383/p383-01-02.shtm
I read it when it first came out.

Well, basically, in this article, GM talked about two issues.

#1 copyright: the copyright belongs to GM. Nobody else is entitled to it.
#2 Before any translation gets published, it needs to report to TBF. Also, translators need to infom TBF about the
book that he/she is currently translating. TBF will be in charge of publishing the book.

I read it when the article first posted on the website. I called the Daden Publisher righ away.
The Daden Publisher is in charge of publishing GM's books and they are also the liason to GM's copyright lawyer.
I personally have a close relationship with them. I am also in charge of their website and handle some important project
for them.

I was told that we are not publishing any book now, so we are not violating any copyright issue.
However, I am bit concerned about if we have the right to even translate GM's books. After some discussion with them,
what I will do is to tailor down our team schedule http://www.padmakumara.org/lounge/scheduleindex.htm
and fax to TBF.

I hope that it has answered your questions. If you have any concern, please let me know

Grandmaster didn't specifically mention whether or not "wen-ji" (literature) refers to books or articles.

no offence, but i have been thinking : who are we to interpret Grandmaster's words and decide for ourselves that GM meant only books and not articles?... I believe Grandmaster meant everything written by him, since he didn't specify books or articles..

also, beside mentioning the copyright, i think the article mentioned Grandmaster's concern that translation may not accurately convey what he means. That was why Grandmaster requested that translated pieces be sent for vetting by True Buddha Foundation.

just my concern...in the meantime, the awaited fax from TBF would alleviate the worry, i guess....

##Yes, your concern is valid.

Grandmaster requested that translated pieces be sent for vetting by True Buddha Foundation.
##I can send all the articles to them, but I really dont know what they can do about that.

Daden Publisher also asks me the same thing..hmm

just my concern...in the meantime, the awaited fax from TBF would alleviate the worry, i guess....
##yes..please give me some time.

thanks again for expressing your concern again
