I asked Mimosa to start this catagory because I feel we need another less informal way to communicate amongst ourselves
that isn't privy to public viewing.
I will start things off.
1). Anyone know who are the several new team members besides where they are from?
2). How is everyone's practice? Does anyone have any questions?
3). What is everyone doing with their free time?
mimosa08/05/02 at 22:25:08#2Re: Welcome all to Team Chat3). What is everyone doing with their free time

My Dear Mimosa!
You never give me enough work to do! :)
My free time goes into Coffee shop time lately, friends,
padma, meditation and temple assignments.
When time and circumstances call for it, I have a book on hand/or sketchpad. I do not listen to much music anymore except Dharma songs on my P.C. Also I limit my t.v. time to Voyager. (Yes I am a Star Trek fan)
I have a new camera on my desk which I have not had time to read the instructions and take up some photography,
also I have a book on Creating webpages for Dummies which I have not read yet.
This likely sounds rather dull. I am sure I do other things of interest, just not much currently, although since Mimosa doesn't keep me busy enough, :) I will develop other interests you will see. :)

I knew I had some interests, it just took me a while to think of what they were...
I am interested in TEA
Oolong, Green, Pu-Erh
Chinese, Taiwanese, and Japanese (green only there)
I have friends who are absolute fanatics, and serve me their tea - at $280/lb, it SHOULD be good!
I am so much more moderate.

I dont give you enough work to do? I am amazed!!! I was worried that you need some time off for your personal problem..
I will find some for you when I come back. But, I need you to write again. Last time, dance wrote a good article on how to help others, would you like to write something to share with the rest of the word?
I have a lot of interests!!! Besides translation, I love Japanese language. I wish that I could take time off and move to Japan for a while... But, it is unlikely to happen now :-( I need to find a Japanese boyfriend, but it is even less likely to happen! hahaha..
I need time to practice piano!!! I dont have music talents, and I am forgetting everything I learn!!!
what's else? I want to brush up my sanscrit!!
I have many dreams and interests but all learning related!!
I am a learning freak!!! ;D
Apart from touturing my brain, I love to travel!!! Especially Japan, so I can brush up my Japanese!! hahaha...learning again...
I tell you what I really want! I want to catch up with my proofreading and give myself enough time to learn!!
soo little time in life and soo much to learn!!
Dance, I drink a lot of green tea too!
I love green tea ice cream! have you had it before?

DragonBall08/07/02 at 03:15:22#6Re: Welcome all to Team ChatMimosa, why do you have to find a Japanese boyfriend?? Are they better looking than the other nationalities? Maybe it's my generalisation but Japs tend to be very chauvinistic. Hmmm... will our outspoken Mimosa be able to handle that? :D
No offence to any japs here since I'm pretty chauvinistic myself! :P
Talking about Japanese, I love Jap food especially sashimi and sushi. Hmmm... the mere thought of it is making me hungry now.... Yummm...
Buddhafly08/07/02 at 16:23:05#7Re: Welcome all to Team Chat
This is too funny! Mimosa, maybe you need a man to tell you what to do?? Hehe Perhaps our Mimosa needs to be tamed! ;)
Yes Mimosa, I would love to get back to writing as soon as I find something inspiring to write about. (Needs inspiration)
Dance I watched a show on Tea's and seeing the different blends and all and the history behind it and how it is made etc.., and I found it quite facinating.
Dragonball, you chauvinistic?? Do tell!! :)
I love Japanese food as well, especialy Maki!! Yumm!
I found this weekend I enjoy olives too. As I was raised in a small town and mom's cooking, any ethnic cuisine I was very unfamilar with. So far in all the different foods that I have tried only Thai food my stomach couldn't handle. Perhaps sampling so many different dishes all at once did it.
I have been spoiled with our temple food. Since most of our temple people are from Brunei, I have a special fondness for their cooking. Now we have a new Llama from Malaysia whom I am developing a quick fondness for Malaysian cooking as well.
My (adopted) Uncle Chee's a great cook! See pic of Uncle below.

DragonBall08/07/02 at 22:15:50#8Re: Welcome all to Team ChatI am Vajrapani whose right leg stomps on all who are the opposite sex!! That's how chauvinistic I am! HAHAHA! ROAR!! :cwm21 Or at least that's how I'd like myself to be, but most of the time I'm at the mercy of dharma sisters and women who are stronger and more capable than me.. Sob! :'(
Anyone here likes music?? I love music and I love to sing, especially Tibetan chanting music. They just have these most haunting melodies and soaring vocal acrobatics that will put most contemporary songs to shame! I especially like the song entitled "Lama Chenno" which means "Master all knowing" that is a tribute and a cry to one's master who is far far away. Whenever I listen to that song, my tears will start pouring for our most missed GM who is so far far away.... Oh how i wish i could sing as well as the Tibetan monk in that CD.
Hey Brenda, what kinda Malaysian cuisine have you tasted so far? Ever tasted "Nasi Lemak" or "Bah Kut Teh"? Malaysian food is famous for its variety as we have three majority races (indigenous Malays, Chinese and Indian) with distinctive cultures and flavours. If you ever drop by, look me up and I'll whip up a feast for you day and night! You'll definitely eat till you drop! Eating is really a culture here in Malaysia. We don't really do anything here. We work, play and sleep just to get by time to reach the next meal! ;D
Luljeta08/07/02 at 23:48:35#9Re: Welcome all to Team ChatTo my Dear Dharma Family and Friends,
Announcing the news of my brother and his wife's precious gift from above:

Mommy and baby will be home by Saturday.
I'll send photos when we get them
Thanks and best regards to everyone,

A very BIG
Congratulations
to the Subasic family and to little Emma-Lee!
May the Buddha's and Bodhisattva's bless her and guide her throughout her lifetime.
Luljeta08/08/02 at 20:36:51#11Re: Welcome all to Team ChatThank you Brenda!
I'm so out of it that I just realized I should have put the news in a separate posting ??? I'll snap out of my tiredness soon I hope.
My sister-in-law is pretty open to Buddhism and asked me if there is anything I can do to protect her when she gives birth. I blessed some sesame oil with the Great Compassion Dharani and visualized Kuan Yin blessing it with white light so she could rub it on her navel (like GM once said in an article). She was very happy to have it.
When she was giving birth, she caught a high fever and the doctors were afraid that the baby might have caught an infection after passing through the birth canal. Plus, the time from when her water broke till the time she gave birth was over 16 hours. The doctors said that made the chances very likely that the baby would get sick. But luckily, the baby is perfectly fine! Thankfully, so is my sister-in-law.
Another thing was that when the baby was born, the umbilical cord was wrapped tightly around her neck. The doctor came in when the baby was halfway out. My sister-in-law told me that if the doctor came in only a few minutes later, she would have given an extra push and would have probably harmed the baby because of the umbilical cord!
If anything, if feel that the sesame oil might have protected the baby. It could be mere coincidence, but you never know.

Has anyone noticed any posts from Lyciss?
He said he was going to get back on line, but so far I haven't seen any posts. I guess he is getting back into it slowly. It may take a while before we see much from him.
Then again, I could be wrong.
You never can tell with Lyciss.
