Story is done!
What one can get for a Dollar
I remember once praying for a car.
I didn't ask for anything special, just something to help us to get from one place to another. Something that would help my husband to find work. Something that would only cost us a dollar. A necessity! My prayer was answered in a very short time!
My brother-in-law gave us their car for a dollar. I didn't think of asking to make the car an automatic. I attempted lessons with my husband and it didn't work.
As I really wanted to get back to going to temple regularly again, especially during the day, without bothering anyone for a ride I prayed again, this time asking for an automatic car, for a dollar. Nothing happened.
I am quite phobic about taking public transportation yet I was determined to make it to temple everyday even if I had to take the bus. I made a decision. I charted out the bus route, found where to buy a bus pass and the next day I would be ready.
The next morning a friend called me and asked me if I wanted her old car for a dollar! Yes it was an automatic!
Of course I said yes! It was a very old big car, yet I loved every inch of her! I began going to temple all the time during the days then and practicing and learned quite a lot and my spirituality progressed very rapidly.
The point I am attempting to make here, is that I had to go through a process of helping myself out, not expecting the help anymore, letting go, to learn a very important lesson.
This is that lesson:
Through conviction one crosses over the flood.
Through heedfulness, the sea.
Through persistence one overcomes suffering & stress.
Through discernment a person is purified.
Sutta Nipata I, 10
Also do you ever get the feeling you are being closely watched by the Buddha's and Bodhisattva's?

I would put temple activities last, as they are most likely to be of interest only to those close to a temple - everything else before that is something of more general interest.
Now, regarding this part:
