As the publication of the latest translation of Grand Master’s book, Living this Moment in Purity, marks the closing of a chapter in its history of publishing, Purple Lotus Publishing would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fellow students for their support over the last ten years. From now on, the publication of translations of Grand Master’s books will be taken over by the True Buddha Foundation.
It was in 1990 when Grand Master instructed us to take up the project of translation and publication. The Purple Lotus Publication has since published ten books. Each title has a printing of 3,000 copies costing over seven thousand dollars. Although volunteers did translation and desktop publishing, professionals were hired to edit the English of each project. The fees for editing amounted to over two thousand dollars per book. Therefore, the average cost for each book translated into English is around ten thousand dollars. Due to limited manpower at Purple Lotus Publication, we have not been able to successfully promote the books. Apart from the free giveaways, each book only has a sale of around two hundred copies. Currently, there are still about twenty thousand copies of these English books in storage. The publication of these books would not have been possible without the full support of Purple Lotus Society.
Over the last several years, apart from Purple Lotus Publishing, a few other sources have also been publishing the English translation of Grand Master’s works. Recently, the committee of True Buddha Foundation decided to take charge of the English translation of Grand Master’s books. Purple Lotus Publishing is happy that the True Buddha Foundation is taking the initiative and responsibility for unifying the publication of English works. Therefore, Purple Lotus Publishing decides that, with the publication of Living this Moment in Purity, it will temporarily stop publication of Grand Master’s English books.
In order to reduce the bulk of books in storage, Purple Lotus Publishing decides to promote their sales by the following methods:
1) If anyone purchases a whole case of a particular title (to give away to friends), Purple Lotus Publishing only charges the cost (see table below). Shipping within the United States is free.
2) If local chapters of True Buddha School purchase less than a case of a particular title, there is a discount of 50%. (That is, $5.00 per book with the exception of Four Essays on Karma, which is $2.00.)
3) If students wish to send these books to libraries, community centers, or even jails, the books are supplied at their costs.
Anyone interested in these promotional sales, please fill out the form below and send it back to 629 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA, Fax: (650) 588-1785. We accept VISA or US checks payable to Purple Lotus Temple.
