Translators

If you never read any email, you need to read the email titled "Translators' Digest". Since I am forunate to proofread every single translation even the article not proofread by me (I do the final proofreading), it is easier for me to oversee problems. To be a good translator, we need to learn from each other' mistakes and stregth, it is not to embarrass anyone (no name will be mentioned). It is only to help us to be a better translator.

#New Proposed Standard

13. When translate a Chinese name, use Han Yu pin  yin. Last name(family name) first and then first  name. Except for Grand Master¡¦s name, it always stays as ¡§Sheng-yen Lu¡¨ because it is a well-known name

I have seen different variations and decided that we really should stay with one convention!

14. Don¡¦t use abbreviation unless the original text uses it. For example, always use ¡§True Buddha School¡¨, don¡¦t ever use ¡§TBS¡¨.

This is very important. Dont ever use TBS or GM in your article, unless the original text uses it!

If you have any objection, please speak up! Otherwise, it is our standard.

#New Terms

When in doubt, always consult with my dictionary. However, please try to remember the terms that I send periodically.  Below are basic and important. Some terms take me weeks to find them......so please remember them! Some terms I learned from your works, really nice,  others may encounter the same terms, so let's share the knowledge.
