Dear Fellow Cultivators:

Does anyone know of  practices and activities that can create better family relationships?   (ie.  between a mother and a daughter)

Anyone want to speak out of their own experience how they`ve improved their relationships with their parents?

Your input appreciated.  Looking forward to your replies.  I want to achieve a higher level of maturity in this area.  Also I want to preserve my good karma and also gain respect from the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

Last summer I made an emergency visit to my mother as she was dying.  I held her hand and visualized Grand Master Lu shining white light on her and chanted silently his mantra.

With the wonderful help of the Padma team and Grand Master Lu my mother recovered.
It was indeed very intense yet the courage was with me to help my mother to hold on strong.  She had not eaten for days and was about to die, and as she felt me beside her and encouraging her to eat and drink she followed course.

As our parents begin to age they do not feel as strong as they used to be and old age and disease begin to set in.  They begin to feel very mortal and fearful of death.

An understanding of what is happening to them is
very good, this helps many to mature and forgive them their ways and to understand that they only did what they thought was best for us.
Also to always remember to include them in our personal cultivation and to ask for blessings for them.  Even to write to Seattle to ask for blessings for them is very good.

I took refuge for my mother which resulted in my mother
actually asking me one day "who is that Chinese man..."whom she seen in our doorway.  I showed her a picture of Grand Master Lu and she said that was him!

Her understanding of Buddhism is very little as she is unable to comprehend many things, yet I read to her the story of Shakayamuni Buddha and she loved it.

By keeping in touch and writing to our parents and sending pictures often tells them they are not far from our thoughts
and our hearts.  Also taking care of them in their old age is of great merit, to my understanding, as well.
