share my reply with you..sometimes I think that I am too blunt...but well..

Hello Hilbert

Nice to meet you. My name is Mimosa, the current translation lead.
I just visited the website. Nice design :-) You must have put a lot of effort into it

I have a few suggestions, if you dont mind

#1 Please dont call your website "True Buddha Secret Network". The word secret has bad connotation especially in the
context of religion. It actually gave me some creepy feelings.

True Buddah School teaches right view of Buddhism; Grand Master teaches everything to his students.
what is so secretive about it?

#2 I checked some of your English materials, I assume that it is not done yet right? because it is very hard to read

That is the problem of using PHP or database..

Currently, Padmakumara doesnt have a dedicated page to link to any sites, but I can promote your
site easily and quickly from email and forum. No problem at all

Mimosa

Mimosa,
thanks for sharing this email... i checked out the site and i cant really figure out why on a "face" level everything is in english but when it comes down into the depth of what the site is for its no longer in english... i definately think the site name needs to change and i agree with you that "secret" is not a very good word to use... secret makes TBS sound cultish and its by far not... this will create backlash if its not changed...

Speechless regarding the whole posting.

Well, I had to escalate it because the name was too scary.

Finally, they changed to "True Buddha Sect". Someone else told me that the word "sect" has a negative connotation as well like a cult?

is it true?

Definition: A dissenting or schismatic religious body; especially : one regarded as extreme or heretical.

This would definitly not be a preferred name.

my god...anyone else?

jessie09/17/02 at 05:31:38#9Re: An email from Taiwan
i think "sect" sounds ok...for eg, the hongkong drama serials i used to watch -- ermei sect, wudang sect...

heehee

in this case, True Buddha Sect sounds very respectable...

or maybe i am the odd one out..  :|

sect
noun
a group of people with somewhat different religious
beliefs (typically regarded as heretical) from those of a
larger group to which they belong.

often derogatory - a group that has separated from
an established Church; a nonconformist Church.

a philosophical or political group, especially one
regarded as extreme or dangerous.

:)
It is somewhat OK -
often derogatory means not always derogatory;
especially one regarded as extreme or dangerous means also others that aren't regarded as so extreme or dangerous.

It certainly does not emphasize how much TBS has in common with other Vajrayana lineages.  GM seems to make a point that what he teaches is in accord with what has been taught.

I would have chosen something else, but I wouldn't demand that it be changed.

I think so. I dont want to give any more advice, and they may think that I criticize them.

yesterday, they invited me to be their English consultant.
boy...so many mistakes on their websites, I'd better make sure that my name is not on it :-( haha, just kidding. I dont know them too well, only the head knows me very well.
sometimes not sure how much to say..you know
