DragonBall10/25/02 at 00:06:32#1GM is gravely ill to the extent of hospitalisation. Master 莲慈 is so correct to say that it is because of the disciples actions that GM is now bedridden. An enlightened Buddha would not face such sufferings for his own karma but for the karma of his beloved disciples. The higher the spirituality of the Master, the more he has to bear for his disciples, for the reason of lineage empowerment. With lineage empowerment, our bad karma is lessen, but where does this big thick black blanket of negative energy go? Where else but GM...
Many a times I have been a bad disciple... Laziness and all the other deep-rooted habits of mine would constantly get the better of me. Being human, time and again I succumb helplessly to my own desires and break the precepts. When will I be able to live up to the standards set by myself and as expected from GM? I constantly remind myself to buck up, only to be defeated time and again by my own karma. I really look up to the good disciples in TBS and hold them in high regards. I wish one day I will be able to do the same with myself, to look GM in the eyes without any guilt or remorse.
In the meantime, my war is still raging hard. My inner battles bloody and intense. I sincerely repent for all the sins that I have downloaded onto GM, that caused GM to suffer the way he is today. If only I could also bear some of his pain, so as to make his load lighter along the way...

Luljeta10/25/02 at 15:04:40#2Re: I repent...Dear DragonBall,
Normally I'm too busy to stop and chat, or I don't like seeing my own words, or whatever, but your posting touched my heart. :'(
Your heart is very sincere and humble. *Not trying* to console you, one thing I can tell you is that you are an excellent disciple. You have to be from the way you translate Grand Master's work! Only one who is spiritually pure and that cultivates sincerely can be blessed enough to even begin to understand how to properly translate works of GM.
I have helped to edit your translations for a little while now, and each time I am amazed when I read them. Something in my heart always tells me "this is the way GM would have put it if he wrote it in English."
I think we are OK (most of us on this team.) Some of us are outstanding of course, (no names need to be mentioned *cough*...Mimosa...) but one thing we have in common is that we do our best to cultivate and follow precepts. At the end of the day we're still human.
When it really comes down to it, we can't beat ourselves up for the actions of those disciples who don't try their best...or those who are just too far gone to come back (I know they're out there)
We just have to keep up what we're doing for the sake of GM. I'm sure GM knows he has at least some students who listen to him!
I hope you feel better, and please don't worry.

I must second Luljeta on that. Your English is so graceful, and your translation is sooo close to GM's writing. I am your fan!
(dont tell me you are my fan, conflict of interets :-) You also take a very meticulous attitude in interperating GM's article. If you were not a good student, you could not translate it so well.
I miss GM dearly too. That is why I am so involved wiith TBS activities, I really want to show him that there are students worth his attention and his return. I miss him

jessie10/27/02 at 05:23:01#5Re: I repent...my conclusion on this matter;
the fact taht GM actually continues to write even when he is ill only shows how much he cares about us. He wants us to know what sickness is (i mean, he could have stopped writing, but he didn't!) He has shouldered so much for us, and as disciples, we must obey his wishes to at least cultivate daily (i am not a good disciple cos i have been slacking).
And as long as we always keep GM in our mind, heart and actions, we will be doing justice to what he has taught us so far! We will always have that "OM" word in our hearts!

well said..well said, jessie.
I want to share a sad news with you guys. It happened this Sat, 6:00 pm. You will read it from the TBN this Thursday....
one of our TBS master passed away this Sat 6:00 pm. During the 3 months, he was lying on the bed like a white mouse experiencing different kind medical treatments. He was a strong master. But, he died as skinny as a skeleton due to the side effect of the mediciation.
During his illness, GM came to his dream and gave him 50% of chance to live. But the other 50 is for him to perfom the fire offering. He wanted to do the fire offerings and he was about to handle it at that time, but....his family were against it.............................I should not say more..
He was a master in LA, but I barely remember what he looks like. I dont go to any temple...
While he was ill, he told other dharma sisters/brothers, "Cherish the time you have. Practice diligently. Care other dharma sisters and brothers. Ask if they need more help, ask if they have questions. Help yourself and help others..." While he was on sickbed, he was still concerned about others.......
I am passing his last words to you.
